Description
A nostalgic and comforting dish featuring melted cheese, savory ground beef, and crispy bread grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 slices sourdough or white bread
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned and crumbled.
- Drain any excess grease, then add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Let it simmer until the liquid reduces slightly.
- While that cooks, butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Preheat another skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place two slices of bread, butter side down, in the skillet. Layer with cheddar cheese, followed by the beef mixture, and top with mozzarella cheese.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top, butter side up.
- Grill until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side, flipping carefully to make sure the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
