Description

Delightful sugar cookies with a melt-in-your-mouth softness and a chewy texture, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until everything is nicely blended.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each ball.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly using the bottom of a glass, then sprinkle with a little sugar to enhance the sweetness.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on wire racks before enjoying!

Notes

For a classic flavor, substitute almond extract with vanilla extract. Dough can be chilled for enhanced flavor.
