Description

A warm and hearty take on classic cabbage rolls, made easy in a slow cooker for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
  • 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef until slightly pink.
  2. Drain any excess fat, then add the diced onion and seasonings to the skillet. Cook until the onions are softened.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture into the slow cooker and stir in the chopped cabbage.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water until well blended.
  5. Pour this sauce over the meat and cabbage, mixing gently to combine.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the cabbage is tender and flavors meld beautifully!

Notes

For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey or chicken. Feel free to add leftover vegetables such as carrots or bell peppers.
