Description

A creamy and cheesy shrimp casserole that strikes a perfect balance between comfort food and elegance, making it ideal for family dinners and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds large shrimp (2124 count), peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning, plus 1 tablespoon salt for cooking water
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter, plus more to grease the pan
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 2.5-quart casserole dish with butter.
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add Old Bay seasoning.
  3. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn opaque, about 30 seconds. Drain and transfer to a bowl.
  4. Mix in the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper with the shrimp until thoroughly coated. Gently fold in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  5. Transfer the shrimp mixture into the greased casserole dish.
  6. In a small pan, melt some butter and stir in the panko bread crumbs. Sprinkle this topping over the shrimp mixture.
  7. Bake uncovered for 13-15 minutes, or until the center of the casserole reaches 145°F. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes to get a nice golden brown on the crumbs.
  8. Allow it to rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter dish, you can substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise. To add a bit of spice, consider including diced jalapeños or using pepper jack cheese.
