Description
A creamy and cheesy shrimp casserole that strikes a perfect balance between comfort food and elegance, making it ideal for family dinners and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds large shrimp (21–24 count), peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning, plus 1 tablespoon salt for cooking water
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter, plus more to grease the pan
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 2.5-quart casserole dish with butter.
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add Old Bay seasoning.
- Add the shrimp and cook until they turn opaque, about 30 seconds. Drain and transfer to a bowl.
- Mix in the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper with the shrimp until thoroughly coated. Gently fold in the mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
- Transfer the shrimp mixture into the greased casserole dish.
- In a small pan, melt some butter and stir in the panko bread crumbs. Sprinkle this topping over the shrimp mixture.
- Bake uncovered for 13-15 minutes, or until the center of the casserole reaches 145°F. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes to get a nice golden brown on the crumbs.
- Allow it to rest for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter dish, you can substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise. To add a bit of spice, consider including diced jalapeños or using pepper jack cheese.
