Description

Delicious red velvet crinkle cookies with a rich cocoa flavor and a powdered sugar coating, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until everything is fully incorporated.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions, roll them into balls, and then roll the balls in powdered sugar to coat.
  8. Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between them.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
