- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- Powdered sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until everything is fully incorporated.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions, roll them into balls, and then roll the balls in powdered sugar to coat.
- Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
