Description

A simple and fresh homemade pizza sauce made from crushed tomatoes and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed tomatoes, olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
  2. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add sugar.
  3. Mix everything together until well incorporated.
  4. Let the sauce rest for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Use immediately on pizza or flatbreads, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

For a smoother sauce, blend the crushed tomatoes before mixing. Adjust the herbs and spices to suit your taste. Taste before using to adjust seasoning as needed.
