- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat until browned; drain any excess fat.
- In a large casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and half of the cream of mushroom soup. Season with salt and pepper.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining ingredients.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, use ground turkey instead of beef. You can also try swapping the cream of mushroom soup for cream of celery or cheese soup for richness.
