- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, draining excess fat as needed.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then add the ground beef mixture.
- Pour the cream of mushroom soup evenly over the layers.
- Top with the remaining potato slices and then the shredded cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider mixing in some cheese layers between the potatoes and the beef. You can also add your favorite vegetables for added nutrition.
