Description
Delicious and satisfying ground beef Philly cheesesteaks, perfect for quick weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers and sauté for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them next and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Move the veggies to one side and add the ground beef; brown until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Lower the heat, place the cheese over the beef mixture, cover, and melt for about 2-3 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- Once the cheese is melted, scoop the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
- Serve hot, optionally toasting the rolls for extra crunch.
Notes
For an extra layer of flavor, sauté the vegetables in the same skillet after browning the beef. Customize with different cheeses or add jalapeños for heat.
