- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually stir this mixture into the creamed butter and sugar until well blended.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded spoonfuls of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For a twist, use dark chocolate chips or sprinkle sea salt on top before baking. To keep them fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
