- 1 cup caramelized onions
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Swiss or mozzarella)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, caramelized onions, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Mix everything together until thoroughly combined but don’t overwork the meat.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
- Bake in the oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature registers at 160°F (70°C).
- Once done, allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
Notes
For a healthier version, swap ground beef for turkey or lentils. Sourdough breadcrumbs add great texture.
