Description

A delightful twist on classic meatloaf, infused with sweet caramelized onions and gooey cheese for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Swiss or mozzarella)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, caramelized onions, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix everything together until thoroughly combined but don’t overwork the meat.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  5. Bake in the oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature registers at 160°F (70°C).
  6. Once done, allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.

Notes

For a healthier version, swap ground beef for turkey or lentils. Sourdough breadcrumbs add great texture.
