French Onion Ground Beef and Rice Casserole

Description

A comforting casserole combining French onion soup, ground beef, and rice with melted cheese.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 cup White Rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can French Onion Soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 Onion (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Cooking Oil for browning the beef

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat a splash of cooking oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. If using onion, drain excess fat and add chopped onion. Cook until softened.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, white rice, French onion soup, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour into a greased casserole dish and sprinkle cheese on top.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with a side salad or crusty bread. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
