Description

A comforting one-pot casserole featuring savory ground beef, tender rice, and the rich flavor of French onion soup, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup white rice
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 4–5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the white rice, French onion soup, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

For a crisp topping, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end—watch closely to avoid burning.
