Description

A comforting dish featuring seasoned ground beef patties in a rich, creamy gravy, perfect for hearty family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour (For thickening gravy)
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper until combined.
  2. Shape this mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and let them rest while preparing the gravy.
  3. In an oven-safe skillet, brown the patties over medium heat for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden. Remove them and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions in butter until softened.
  5. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for 2 minutes. Slowly whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until well combined and slightly thickened.
  6. Nestle the browned patties into the gravy, making sure they’re well-coated.
  7. Cover the skillet tightly with a lid or foil and bake in the oven at 350°F for 45 minutes. Afterward, uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added depth, consider sautéing mushrooms along with the onions in the gravy. Adjust the thickness of the gravy by varying the flour.
