- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed onion, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until combined.
- Form the mixture into patties (about 4-6) and place them in a greased baking dish.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour 1 cup of beef broth over the patties and add the sautéed mushrooms on top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This dish freezes well; thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven.
