Description

A comforting treat that combines the sweetness of apples with a tender, cinnamon-infused loaf, perfect for cozy mornings or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for sprinkling)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Pour half of the batter into your prepared loaf pan.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter.
  8. Add the remaining batter on top, followed by the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  9. Use a knife or skewer to swirl through the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  10. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. While it cools, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze, then drizzle it over the cooled bread.
  12. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

Serve warm with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze slices for up to three months.
